Charlie Tex Davis, staff attorney for the South Carolina Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC), is one of my favorite ethics speakers.  He explains in clear and lively terms exactly the sort of behaviors that get attorneys into trouble and how to avoid conduct that violates the rule of professional conduct or mitigate the consequences that stem from such violations.  After graciously agreeing to speak at the June 3, 2011 CLE on “Handling your first…,” where his presentation generated numerous interesting questions, he has agreed to come back August 12, 2011 and present for two hours on the following topics:

Using social media without running afoul of the rule of professional conduct (45 minutes)

How the ODC is interpreting the civility oath/being civil to the uncivil (45 minutes)

Open discussion/Q&A (30 minutes)

This free CLE will take place at the Charleston County Courthouse’s Jury Assembly Room from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and has been approved for two hours of ethics credit.  It is open to all members of the Charleston County Bar.  Those interested in attending should email Natalie Bluestein and provide their name, email address and bar ID number.  Please reference in the email course number 114646.

Is it open to other attorneys?

    1. My understanding is that it is not. You can join our county bar for $50.00.
