Judge Segars-Andrews’s appeal

Judge Segars-Andrews’ complaint was dismissed by the Supreme Court today: Segars-Andrews v. Judicial Merit Selection Commission, 387 S.C. 109, 691 S.E.2d 453 (2010). I assume this means she will not be a family court judge after her term expires on June 30th.  While the Supreme Court’s decision wasn’t surprising–appellate courts try hard to not find the actions of co-equal branches of government unconstitutional–it is disappointing.  She is a good judge and will be missed.

  1. A tragedy … a decision that is like an enigma wrapped inside of mystery inside of question mark.

Yes, I’ve read “why.” But I still ask, “why?!?”

And yes, those of you who know her Honor know why I ask “why”?
